Money (and what to do with it)

So i got £40 for my 7 hours of work the other day. That totals to about £5.71 per hour. I'm fairly happy with that and I would definately do it again, mostly because I have yet to aquire any sort of work placement and I'm desperate for money. The reason I'm desperate is because of the horde of awesome Xbox games coming our way soon such as: Assassins Creed Revelations, Gears of War 3, Modern Warfare 3, Dead Island, Skyrim and Bioshock Infinite. I'm planning to buy Dead Island when it comes out on the 9th of September and Skyrim which comes out on the 11th of November. The rest I will save for Christmas and my Birthday or I will buy them with Christmas money. If you don't see any posts from me soon after Christmas then it probably means I went into post-Christmas hibernation mode where I sit in the corner gaming all hours of the day. I'm fairly certain that will not happen though...

Work is work...

Today I spent 7 hours stuffing envolopes with newsletters for a hotel in Grange. I really wish I had agreed on a price beforehand but now at least it's over. I would tell you how much I got paid but I don't yet know, I'm being paid tomorrow. I am going to be MAD if it wasn't worth 7 hours labour.
Hah, labour. Actually it wasn't hard work. I did work 7 hours but it was such easy work that I was allowed to watch tv or listen to my iPod. Since there is not much on daytime television (except from the 'Friends' and 'The Big Bang Theory' in the morning on T4) I opted instead to use my Tube downloader app to watch 10 episodes of previously recorded American Dad. That helped pass the time. Ill let you know what I get paid tomorrow.

Tube Downloader iPhone app

I have been making great use of the tube downloader iPhone app this Summer. For those of you who don't know, it is an app that allows direct downloading of videos and films from the internet straight to the device for free! When it entered the app market it shot straight up the rankings but don't bother searching for it now as Apple seem to have removed it. And I don't blame them because using it this holiday I have watched literally hundreds of episodes of shows such as: How I Met Your Mother, Big Bang Theory, Family Guy and American Dad. The website I downloaded them from was chronictv.org. If you want to check it out for yourselves you must jailbreak your iPods/iPhones unless you were lucky enough to get it the same way I did.

Fun stuff to do online

Like many people I enjoy wasting time on the internet (and having a laugh whilst doing so) and there is no better place to do it than on explosm.net, home of Cyanide & Happiness. Check out the fantastic daily webcomic and hilarious short cartoons. I highly recommend.

Film Reviewing- Super 8 and Cowboys and Aliens

I saw Super 8 the other week. A fantastic film directed by two of the world's most amazing directors, Steven Speilberg and J.J. Abrams. I've got to say, out of the whole film, the train crash scene near the start really made the film for me. It was amazing. I'm not going to spoil anything but I will say the film had just the right amount of action to keep it away from horror genre but there were some scares in there. I mean I'm not one to jump at movies but everyone in the cinema was jumping a surprising amount. Maybe they were just over-excited. It was mostly 13-14 year olds so that isn't too shocking. Anyway it wasn't scary as scary films go, it just had a few scenes where someone would be attacked really quickly and to loud music. Super 8 also contained some comedy which fit in nicely which I thought was surprising but effective to break up the film and leave you unaware that another attack was just round the corner.

Now one thing you should know about me is that I am a film fanatic and I will be posting about every film I see. So that equals a lot of posts. A couple days ago, I saw Cowboys and Aliens with a friend. For those of you that haven't heard, Cowboys and Aliens is set in the wild west at the time of the gunslinging cowboys (not strictly true as cowboys were probably just working men herding cattle rather than shooting anyone who annoys them as they are made out to have done in films) and stars Daniel Craig as a cowboy who wakes up with no recollection of his life or even his name. He wakes up with a piece of alien technology on his wrist which soon reveals itself to be a weapon (not a spoiler as it's in the trailer for the film). Thus begins the cross over between the wild west and the alien universe. Harrison Ford also stars as a cowboy, no less the man it turns out Craig has stolen from. Soon, Ford and Harrison have to work together to fight an alien attack and so begins the main plot of the movie. I loved the mix of the genres and the special effects were fantastic.

Wow that took a while...

Rioting

I 'm going to head off my blog with my first strong opinion. It's concerning the recent riots. Honestly I can't believe English people would wreck hundreds of stores for the sake of a new laptop or TV. It really goes to show where peoples' loyalty lies. I sincerely hope they all are punished for what they did. Why some of them decided to burn down blocks of flats and appartments is beyond me. What is the gain in that anyhow? It has made many, many people homeless and without possesions. Not to mention the amount of small businesses that will NEVER recover from the devastating blow of having their shops destroyed.

My First Post (The Birth of a Legacy)

So this is it. My first few words into what I am sure will turn into something larger and more amazing. Whether this blog ever becomes popular or not does not concern me. It will be a hobby to practice in my spare time.
I've never been able to keep a diary. Too boring and slow. Blogging is kind of similar to keeping a diary, right? The only difference is that instead of instead of keeping your thoughts and innermost secrets locked up, they are broadcasted on the internet for anyone to read. Whilst this blog will have no specific area on which it covers, I will post on anything that interests me such as movies, games and even the news.

I'm sure there are countless blogs out there similar to this one but I can promise you this is unique. Because it was written by me. Follow me, you'll see. ;)
